The Robinsons // Whitefish, Montana

I've been friends with Savannah and Colin for a couple of years now, and when they asked me if I would be the one to capture their biggest day I was so excited. Honored.

So off we all flew, to Whitefish, Montana. When we first landed, the smoke from the wildfires was looming over the big skies, but morning of the wedding, it all blew away and gave all of us *mostly* Californians a real picture of what Big Sky Country means.

Post wedding day we did everything from going to the gun range to horse back riding, hiking in Glacier National Park to innertubing on the freezing water at Whitefish Lake.

What an incredible week celebrating the love of two great human beings.

Sand Dunes

Drove 2 hours east of San Diego and shot at the Imperial sand dunes - epic location, perfect lighting and my beautiful friends Carl, Alex & Xianna made my job so easy. Felt so great letting out this creative release of energy after a rough couple of weeks.

Already ready for the next adventure. Take a peek at my favorite shots from the day.

Colin & Savannah

Over the past year I've gotten to know Colin & Savannah pretty well, come to find out they're two of the hardest working, inspiring people I know. The second they asked me if I was able to take their engagement photos, I of course immediately said yes.

We wandered around Presidio Park, Old Town and Bankers Hill in San Diego earlier this week, grateful for beautiful friends and the ability to capture these memories for them forever. <3

SDSU Class of 2016 | Alex & Lindsey

Graduation is getting closer and closer! Its almost my good friend Alex's turn to graduate, and we had so much fun taking some photos on San Diego State's campus. Our friend Lindsey hopped in a few photos as well, congrats to the both of them for being so close to finishing such a big chapter in their lives! Take a peek at some of my favorites.

I have a handful of slots still available for the month of April, message or email to me for more information!

Cleveland National Forest, Anza Borrego & Julian

My friends and I decided to take an epic day trip to Anza Borrego and back, passing through the forest and Julian on the way there and back. It was an incredible day, definitely want to go back up to all 3 places to camp soon! Take a look at some of my favorite shots, digital & 35mm film, from the trip!

Sunset Cliffs

Explored Sunset Cliffs with some friends yesterday evening. Even though it was overcast and raining a bit, the view didn't disappoint. This spot might forever be one of my favorite views of the ocean.

Grand Canyon

Back in November, I finally got to see and experience the Grand Canyon for myself. We woke up at 2:30am to head up from my friends place in Tempe, got there just minutes before the sun rose. Never have I ever seen a sun rise like that.. The colors were unreal. It also began to snow, which then created rainbows that fell down into the canyon. After we explored around for a bit, we headed down to Flagstaff, AZ and found our way into a forest. Sure, it was 27 degrees and extremely windy - but it was worth every minute.

Joshua Tree

If you live in California and haven't been to Joshua Tree National Park yet, I highly recommend adding it to the top of your list of places to visit. We got to the park right as the sun was setting, and it was the greatest welcome we could've asked for. Once the sun was down, a whole new side of the park came out. The stars were absolutely breath taking, I have never seen so many in my life. We spent the whole next day exploring as much as we could - this park is HUGE.

It's so important to take the time to explore the areas around you, we get far too caught up in our day to day lives and places like this make everything just, better.

Muir Woods & San Francisco

While I was at home for the holidays last month, my little sister and I went and explored San Francisco for a few hours. I had never been to Muir Woods so that was our first stop, and let me tell you.. its absolutely breath taking. Easy hikes and trails, surrounded completely by the most beautiful giants trees, what more could you need? We went a bit later in the afternoon so it got dark sooner than I wanted, but we just headed over to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge to snap a few photos. San Francisco will always have my heart, thankful to have grown up so close to such a great place.

Salvation Mountain & Slab City

A few months ago, I drove 2.5 hours east of San Diego and spent the day exploring Salvation Mountain and Slab City. Located near the Salton Sea, this place was pretty awesome to see. If you've never heard of Salvation Mountain, look it up.. I highly recommend making the trip out there. Slab City is home to over 3,000 people during the winter season, but when we went this summer there were barely any people living there. (I don't blame them, it was 112 degrees the day we went)

Check out what I captured from our trip, things get pretttty weird.

Ellie & Hector

A couple of weeks ago, Ellie, Hector and myself explored a little park in San Diego called Marian Bear Memorial Park, and I think this is my new favorite location for sessions! On top of a beautiful location, the weather was perfect. I am so honored to be working with amazing people like these two high school sweethearts.

Can't wait for October.

Kalin & Myles Dedication tour: San Diego, Ca

Where do I even begin..

I absolutely love working with friends, especially this two amazing human beings. Their kindness and genuine hearts are really going to get them places. The love they have for their fans, the amount of excitement they show before getting on stage.. Unreal. They never fail to amaze me with their talent, and I am really excited to see where they end up in 5, 10 years from now.

Boys, big things are in your future :)

On February 17th I got to see these two again, last time was at Crazy for Christmas in San Francisco. This time, it was at one of my favorite local venues in San Diego, House of Blues. This just so happened to be the kick off show of their two and a half month tour around the US, and the energy was AWESOME. Here are some of my favorite shots from that night, feel free to post them on instagram/twitter/facebook/etc., just please don't forget to credit me please  (instagram: @mirandamcdonald twitter: @__Mrnda)

Kalin & Myles: Crazy for Christmas 2014

Last weekend was a dream, I am convinced. So thankful to have all of these guys in my life, and its such an awesome feeling seeing them grow. If you haven't heard of Kalin & Myles yet, now you have. Keep your eyes out for them because this is just the beginning. They're two of the most genuine people I know, along with their whole crew. My favorite group of people to work with.

We had back to back to back sold out shows at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, and let me tell you.. I've never felt that type of energy in one room. Since there was 3 shows, I captured SO many amazing photos, so I'm breaking it down into days for you guys.

Full albums from all three nights will soon be posted here, so give the Facebook page a like! If you want to post these photos to Instagram, go for it! A tag would be really appreciate, @mirandamcdonald is my account :)

NIGHT ONE: The first show of the weekend, so much anticipation. Here are some of my favorite shots from December 19, 2014.

NIGHT TWO: The energy from this night.. was unreal. It was like a movie, everyone showed so much love for the boys. And yes, everyone was dripping sweat from all of the dancing going on, including myself. It was difficult to narrow down these photos, but here are my favorites from December 20, 2014.

NIGHT THREE: December 21, 2014, the last show of the series. Getting to the venue was bittersweet. Excited for another show, but sad because it is the last one of the crazy weekend. But.. Kalin & Myles had some awesome surprises for their fans. Derek King, Sage the Gemini, Iamsu & P-Lo all came out and performed with the guys, as if the energy in the room wasn't already insane.. Jakeey P also played some dope DJ sets. This show was really something special.

Just one year ago, I was helping these guys on the set of their music video for Top of the World.. now they are selling out three back to back to back shows in San Francisco and going on another three month long tour across the country. No one deserves it more than them, and they truly love each and every one of their fans. I can't thank them enough for giving me these opportunities, and for just being great friends. I love all of you guys so much, can't wait to see you in February to kick off the Dedication tour in San Diego. Thank you for inspiring me to follow my dreams.

Figure at Somewhere Loud

So it's been over a year since I've been to Somewhere Loud in San Diego, and it is ironically enough where I shot my first nightlife event! So being back there was pretty great last weekend, and they have really put a lot of work into the venue. I had such a great time covering the show, and Figure, Josh, is one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. You can check out a full write up about the event by Electric Sloth, link coming soon!

Here are some of my favorite shots from the show!

Kalin & Myles

Had the awesome pleasure of photographing these great guys again a couple of weeks ago. Every time they're in the area and I get to see them, its always so much fun. They're some of my favorite people to work with. The show was in the Voodoo Room at House of Blues in San Diego, CA on November 9th, 2014. And let me tell you.. it was soooo full of energy!! Honestly, all of the Kalin & Myles fans never cease to amaze me with their dedication to these two guys. And its also always a pleasure seeing Cam, JakeeyP and Connor as well of course, you're all absolutely wonderful.

Check out some of my favorite shots from the show.
